The Elizabeth tower, completed on April 10, 1858, is the largest bell in England.The tower is 320 feet tall, the minute hand is 14 feet long, the clock is covered by a staff, and the face of the clock strikes the hour every hour when parliament is in session.The clock will be stopped during the change of time between summer and winter every year to repair, exchange and tune the clock.

On August 14, 2017, the house of Commons said that Big Ben will be repaired for four years. It is expected that Big Ben will not be able to sound again until 2021.Big Ben chimes at exactly 9am on November 10, 2017, in preparation for the commissioning of armistice day celebrations.
